About this Project

Hi there, my name is David Weir. By day I'm usually designing pretty pixels for Ludomade here in Los Angeles, but in my spare time I enjoy taking photographs.

This project is an attempt to step out of my comfort zone and into a new level of portrait photography: by taking 100 portraits of people I have never met.

I am in no way a professional photographer, but I hope that this project will help develop my photojournalistic skills further and provide some stories into to the life's of these strangers.

Where can I follow the project?

You can follow me via my:

Feel free to comment, like and share these images so everyone can have there say about how I am going and what they think about the strangers I've met.

Stranger #25 – Trish

My latest stranger marks an important milestone in the project, bringing up the quarter-way point of this portrait series. It seems to have taken a long time to arrive at this point, however I’ve been really happy with how its progressed so far and hope you have enjoyed viewing it since its beginning 🙂

So, on that note I introduce Stranger #25 to the project – Trish. (insert standing ovation here)

After a successful day shooting last weekend with Amy and George I was out on a mission this weekend to find myself a couple more strangers. I was interested in seeing some of the new buildings and shops in Melbourne’s South Wharf Promenade and whilst strolling along I had ran into professional photographer Craig Newell, someone who I had come to meet through my new teaching job. Craig runs Australian Photo Tours here in Melbourne and was nearing the end of one of his photo walk tours with a group of keen amateur photographers. Craig is an amazing photographer and as we got chatting I mentioned my 100 Strangers Project. Before long some of the students in the group were interested in the project too and Trish was happy to be apart of it.

Trish was celebrating her Birthday on this very special Saturday and enjoying a beautiful morning walking around Melbourne learning about photography with Craig. She said she really enjoys being creative and was happy with the results she was producing in the camera during this course.

Trish had travelled across from Apollo Bay for this tour, which is positioned on the world famous Great Ocean Road about 2hrs from Melbourne. She is a very happy ‘Beach Mum’ who has recently left the corporate world and started a new business venture herself, promoting the fantastic experiences of the Great Ocean Road. She has been working with Craig on some photography for this new venture which will include a website and iPhone App which she is really excited about.

It was great day for Trish and I hope this photo is the icing on the cake (so-to-speak). Thanks for being apart of the project Trish and good luck with the new venture.
